A child is in intensive care and others have “life-changing” injuries after a horrific bus crash west of Melbourne on Tuesday.

Seven children — aged between five and 11 — remain at the Royal Children’s Hospital after a truck allegedly crashed into a bus at Eynesbury.

Royal Children’s Hospital CEO Bernadette McDonald says “there’s a long road to rehabilitation and recovery for these patients”.

“The only good news out of this is … they are all in a serious condition so none are critical,” she told 3AW Breakfast.

Thirteen children and an adult were transported to hospital after the crash about 3.40pm on Tuesday.

A 49-year-old truck driver has been charged with four counts of dangerous driving cause serious injury.

He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via videolink this afternoon.
