Tensions rise in Tasmania as two MPs quit, putting new AFL stadium in the spotlight
Tensions have risen in the Tasmanian government, with two members in the lower house, John Tucker and Lara Alexander resigning from the Liberal government, leaving Premier Jeremy Rockliff with a minority government.
The latest development has put the new stadium proposed to be built at Macquarie Point in Hobart in the spotlight, with up to 6,000 people protesting against the construction of the new stadium on the lawns of state parliament today.
Tasmanian State Political Reporter, Joshua Duggan, claims the stadium will be built as planned at the moment, but “there’s certainly a much higher level of scrutiny than there was before”.
