A thousand new e-scooters will hit the streets this week.

Operator Neuron Mobility claims the new model is easier to ride than the older scooters they’ll replace.

According to the Global Micro Mobility Index, Melbourne is embracing shared e-scooter schemes like no other city in Australia.

The announcement comes almost a month on from the extension and expansion of the e-scooter trial and the legalisation of private e-scooters.

A total of 3.7 million trips, travelling more than seven million kilometres, have been taken in Melbourne since the e-scooter trial began in February last year.
