Popular jockey killed in horror race fall
A jockey has been killed after a shocking race fall at Donald.
Group 1-winning rider Dean Holland was unable to be saved after the horrific incident on Monday afternoon.
The race meeting was subsequently abandoned, with the Anzac Day meeting at Flemington and races at Moe scheduled for Tuesday also cancelled out of respect for Holland and his family.
All horses and other jockeys involved in the fall are OK.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Holland rode In Secret to victory in the time-honoured Group 1 Newmarket Handicap earlier this year, picking up the ride at the last minute after Jamie Kah was unable to ride the horse due to injuries she suffered in a fall of her own at Flemington.
