Research conducted by consumer website Finder has found 45 per cent of Australians have problems with their cars which needs fixing and a service, equaling to nine million Australians.

CEO of the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce, Geoff Gwilym, believes it is to do with a mechanic shortage but also inaction from the government.

“There’s no votes in governments making people service their cars annually, so I think there is a huge resistance there,” Mr Gwilym told Neil Mitchell.
