Opposition leader John Pesutto has spoken out following the Liberal Party’s decision to suspend Victorian MP Moira Deeming for nine months for attending a rally where neo-Nazis were present.

Mr Pesutto was pleased Ms Deeming called out the neo-Nazi protestors during the party meeting this morning, but wishes she had been done it sooner.
“I welcomed what Moira did this morning, it was the right thing to do, I just wish it had been done last week,” Mr Pesutto told Tom Elliott.
The opposition leader hopes Ms Deeming can see where he was coming from with the move to expel her, but admits a punishment had to be laid down.
“There was an overwhelming view in the party room, in fact it was unanimous, that there needed to be a consequence for not acting on it sooner,” he said.
“I was at least pleased that she saw the merit in the outcome that I proposed, because the alternative was it would go to a vote.”
