A staggering number of Victorians have complained to the state’s consumer watchdog about ticketing companies, new data reveals.

Data obtained by the Herald Sun under a Freedom of Information request reveals there were more than 1400 complaints about ticketing companies from the beginning of 2021 to October 2022.

According to the new data, Ticketek was the most complained about company with 922 complaints to Consumer Affairs Victoria, followed by Ticketmaster with 363 complaints, Viagogo with 120 complaints, and Moshtix with 31 complaints.

Chair of the Consumer Federation of Australia, Gerard Brody, told Neil Mitchell a lack of competition sometimes leads to “ticket companies treating customers with a bit of disdain”.

He’s calling for a public complaints register to be published monthly.
