Goldstein MP Zoe Daniel concerned by superannuation ‘class war tactic’
The MP representing Victoria’s wealthiest electorate says the Albanese government is engaging in “a class war tactic” regarding superannuation.
Independent Member for Goldstein, Zoe Daniel, says she’s “not overly keen on political parties of either persuasion fiddling around with super when people have invested in their super in good faith”.
She wants to see a broader debate about tax reform.
“If there is a substantive and genuine debate to be had about the super system let’s have it, but this feels a bit like Labor speaking to their won voters from a party political perspective rather than considering the fact … many people have invested in good faith in their superannuation,” she told Neil Mitchell.
“There are ways to raise much bigger amounts, like taxing multinational gas companies on windfall profits, for example, which the government won’t go anywhere near. So if we’re going to talk about tax, let’s talk about it.”
