Parents are being warned an energy drink which has become a social media sensation is harmful for kids.

Thousands of young fans flocked to Nine’s Sydney office last week when Logan Paul and KSI were there to promote their new drink, PRIME.

But experts warn the amount of caffeine the drink contains is dangerously high, and it’s only allowed to be sold in Australia through a legal loophole which permits it to be consider a dietary supplement.

“That whole industry has loopholes. It’s not regulated,” leading paediatric gut health dietitian at Tricky Little Tummies, Karina Savage, told Ross and Russel.

PRIME contains six times the amount of caffeine as a can of Coke, and almost twice as much as a can of Red Bull.

“I don’t even know how that’s allowed,” Ms Savage said.

Ms Savage says it’s recommended that children under 12 have no caffeine.
