A concerned resident on the Bellarine Peninsula is searching for information about a dog attack that left a 72-year-old man in hospital.

Julie told Neil Mitchell the man was on an electric scooter when a dog, which was on a lead, lunged at him on the Ocean Grove Beach Track around 10.30am on Sunday.

The owner of the dog is also believed to have been injured in the incident.

University Hospital Geelong has confirmed a 72-year-old man is being treated for hand injuries.

Julie believes the dog was a tan-coloured mastiff, pitbull or similar breed. The male owner appeared to be aged in his 20s and was with another man.

“This really needs to be addressed and gotten to the bottom of. It’s absolutely horrifying.”

Rhianna told Neil Mitchell she saw the dog in question before the attack.

“This guy had no control over this dog and to be honest we moved far away from it because I thought we were in danger,” she told Neil Mitchell.
