The Australian government is in the process of removing up to 1000 security cameras and intercoms across government buildings after it emerged their manufacturers are partly owned by the Chinese government.

It’s prompted concerns the devices may have been used to spy on Australia and feed information to Beijing.

Senator James Paterson is the Shadow Minister for Cyber Security and Countering Foreign Interference and told Neil Mitchell it was a “pretty shocking” development.

“Frankly, they shouldn’t have been there in the first place and the sooner they’re gone, the better,” he said.
