Tennis spectators supporting Russian war questioned by police
Four spectators were booted from Melbourne Park last night and are being questioned by police after displaying a Russian flags and allegedly threatening security.
The group unfurled the flags on the steps between Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena after the men’s quarter final match between Russia’s Andrey Rublev and Serbian Novak Djokovic and chanted in support of Russia.

Tennis Australia says the group threatened security guards who tried to get them to put the flags down and leave, and police had to intervene.
All four people were evicted from the Australian Open.
A spectator was also seen wearing a t-shirt featuring the letter ‘Z’, which is Russian pro-war symbol, during the match.
Russian and Belarusian flags have been banned from the tournament due to the Ukraine invasion.
