Government urged to push back against ‘prosecco’ ban
The founder of Dal Zotto Estate is calling on the federal government to push back against a proposed ban on the use of Prosecco name by Australian winemakers.
The European Union wants the name safeguarded from use by Australian producers under a free trade agreement.
Australia’s assistant trade minister will meet Italian officials this weekend to argue against it.
Otto Dal Zotto told Tom Elliott he should be able to use the name and there was a key difference between this issue and when the use of champagne was banned.
