Food security concerns continue amid ‘volatile’ conditions
The president of the Victorian Farmers’ Federation says it’s “difficult to predict” what will happen to food supply and price in Australia in coming months.
It comes after she issued a grim famine warning four months ago.
Emma Germano says farming conditions have been “so volatile”, but she’s hopeful the situation will improve this year.

“I think the volatility might settle down in the weather calms down. They’re saying La Nina is looking to kind of start to neutralise,” she told Neil Mitchell.
Ms Germano thinks 2023 will “hopefully not be as crazy as last year” but said the Federal Government still needs to follow through with its food security inquiry.
“We do have to be thinking about the future of where our food comes from in this country,” she said.
