Heidi Murphy calls out ‘unnecessary’ social media pile-on
Heidi Murphy says she’s uncomfortable with the “horrific” social media pile-on aimed at a father who left his two-year-old inside a car that was stolen at Chelsea.
Police are still on the hunt for the thief, who stole the car while it was parked outside a grocery store with the engine still running and air conditioning on. The “distraught” child was dumped on a nearby street before the offender drove off.

The parents have been widely condemned on social media.
Heidi Murphy, who is filling in as host of 3AW Drive, said leaving the child in the car was clearly the wrong decision, but “strangers abusing them on the internet” wasn’t helping.
“I don’t know them, I’ve never met them, but I feel for them,” she said.
“It’s unnecessary.
“Save the vitriol for the car thief.”
