Police officer hit by car at Bacchus Marsh breath-testing site
A 42-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly hitting a police officer while trying to avoid a breath-testing site at Bacchus Marsh last night.
A Ford Falcon stopped short of the random testing site on The Avenue of Honour at about 8.25pm, then approached the site and was waved into a testing lane.
The driver allegedly accelerated suddenly, striking a police officer in the leg before crossing onto the wrong side of the road and travelling at excessive speeds.
The vehicle was found bogged in a paddock a short time later and the driver, a Wyndham Vale man, was found to be driving while disqualified.
He returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.35 and tested positive to methylamphetamine.
He was charged with 17 offences including disqualified driving, drink driving and endangering an emergency services worker with vehicle.
The police officer sustained minor injuries.
