A mental health social worker from Swan Hill has promised to send the federal government the funeral notice of any patient she loses to suicide after Labor’s decision to slash subsidised psychology sessions in half.

The decision has sparked outrage, with Australia’s most prominent youth psychologist calling for the resignation of the health minister. Liz McDonald said the government’s justification (that it’s preventing other patients from getting help) doesn’t wash.

“We don’t take lightly who we see, and when we see them,” she said.
