Data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency has revealed there has been zero progress to reduce the gender pay gap in Australia.

Women in Australia currently earn an average of $26,596 less than men.

Director of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, Mary Wooldridge, believes Australia is a “highly gendered country” and wants more progress to be done.

Ms Wooldridge also claimed companies perform better in terms of profitability and productivity when there is more equal management between men and women.

“This should be a solution to difficult times, not something that’s put aside,” Ms Wooldridge told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
