Transport Workers Union rips into Deliveroo after it suddenly withdrew from Australia
The Transport Workers Union has ripped into Deliveroo after it suddenly withdrew from Australia, leaving 15,000 riders without a job.
Michael Kaine, National Secretary of the Transport Workers Union, has accused the food delivery service of “spitting the dummy” over regulations in Australia.
“They’ve spat the dummy and they’ve spat the dummy in a way that is going to affect the livelihoods of those 15,000 workers, who were already under incredible pressure working for them,” he said.
The union is now looking at launching a compensation claim for the workers.
