Flash flooding has hit the Mornington Peninsula overnight and into the morning, causing havoc for residents living in the area.

Meteorologist at the Buraeu of Meteorology, Michael Efron, detailed the sheer amount of rainfall in the Mornington area in the past few hours.

“We did see about 60 millimetres at Mornington, so pretty much a month’s worth of rain in just a few hours,” Mr Efron told Neil Mitchell.
