British Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced her resignation, making her the shortest-serving prime minister in UK history.

Ms Truss’s resignation comes just six week after she took office.

Her replacement will be selected next week.

Speaking on Downing Street, Ms Truss admitted she could not deliver on her election promises.

The selection process by which Ms Truss became Prime Minister took twice as long as she’s spent in office, but UK reporter in Gavin Gray says the process will be much swifter this time around.

“A single candidate will need to secure the support of 100 MPs, now bear in mind there are only 360 odd Conservative MPs, that means only three candidates, maximum, can go forward in this first round,” he told Ross and Russel.

“It’s quite likely, I think, to actually be two.

Mr Gray says Boris Johnson could put himself forward for the top job again.

“Reports in two well known newspapers here in the UK are suggesting hew has said that for the good of the country he is prepared to throw his hat into the ring again to be prime minster,” he said.
