St Kilda has confirmed Brett Ratten has been sacked as coach.

The sensational news emerged on Thursday night.

“There is a big gap between where we are now, and where we want to be,” president Andrew Bassat said on Friday morning.

He said it was a “painful” decision to part ways with the coach they appointed in 2019.

The club said it would act “quickly and decisively” in appointing his successor.
