Search for arsonist after series of fires in St Kilda area
Police are calling for public help to track down an arsonist following a series of fires in the St Kilda area.
The first fire happened on Patterson Street in Middle Park, where wheelie bins were found pushed up against a car and set alight in the early hours of Sunday 25 September.
A week later, on October 2, wheelie bins were again pushed against a car and set alight in the early hours of the morning on Park Street in St Kilda. The car in question was parked under an apartment building carport and the fire caused damage to two cars and an apartment.
On Saturday 8 October, there were three further fires. A bin pushed up against the door of an electrical room on Waterloo Crescent in St Kilda was set alight at about 12.30am. Just before 1pm wheelie bins were pushed against the rear fence of a property in Raglan Street in St Kilda East and set on fire.
That evening, a wooden box was pushed against the door of an Inkerman Street apartment and set alight, causing significant damage.
