Tom Elliott has made a prediction after it was announced Loy Yang power station would shut down in 2035, a decade earlier than first expected.

It provides 30 per cent of Victoria’s energy supply.

“I reckon it will be an utter disaster,” he said.

Jono Lanauze, CEO of Environment Victoria, made a prediction himself.

He said he expects the plant to shut even earlier than 2035.

“It’s probably going to happen earlier than that, and I think it probably should,” he said.
