Steven Baker says Ross Lyon should pick Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley
Former St Kilda tagger Steven Baker has implored Ross Lyon to pick Ryan Crowley for Fremantle’s preliminary final next week.
Crowley hasn’t played since last year’s finals series and is currently serving a 12-month doping ban, which expires on September 24.
There are rumblings Lyon is considering bringing Crowley back to play a role on Hawthorn champion Sam Mitchell next week, despite saying it was a ‘million to one’ chance last week.
Baker, who came straight back into St Kilda’s side for the 2010 grand final after missing 11 games in a row, implored his old coach to do something similar again.
‘I reckon he’s in their best 22,’ Baker told 3AW Football.
‘Give the guy a crack!’
Baker admits he was initially concerned about his fitness, but those fears ended up being misplaced.
‘The first (drawn) grand final – my body had never felt better,’ he explained.
