Queen Elizabeth II laid to rest in final farewell
The Queen has been laid to rest in the King George VI memorial chapel at Windsor Castle, alongside her late husband, parents and sister.
Around 2000 people attended the state funeral at Westminster Abbey, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
An estimated two million people packed the streets of London and Windsor.
“It really demonstrates what the Queen meant to people,” Nine Radio reporter in London, Clinton Maynard, told Jacqui Felgate and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.
The crowds lining the procession route had no idea what was happening inside Westminster Abbey during the service, with no screens of the proceedings inside set up along the route.
And the reaction of the crowds surprised reporter Clinton Maynard.

The funeral was steeped in tradition, but there were some personal touches as well.
Two of the Queen’s beloved corgis, Muick and Sandy, awaited the procession carrying her coffin to St George’s Chapel inside Windsor Castle, and her black fell pony, Emma, also greeted the procession.
At King Charles’ request, the wreath on top of his mother’s coffin contained flowers and foliage cut from the gardens of Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Highgrove House.
The United Kingdom fell silent for two minutes at the end of the service, before the Queen’s coffin was taken on its final journey to her resting place at Windsor.
