Hundreds of childcare workers have turned out for a rally in Melbourne’s CBD demanding better pay and conditions.

Around 250 childcare centres shutdown for either half or a full day to allow staff to attend the rally.

Nine News reporter Stephanie Anderson told Tom Elliott parents were supportive of the action.

“Every parent I spoke to said we’re totally on board,” she said on 3AW Drive.
