Tom Elliott and Fiona Patten clash over red shirt saga

A new police whistleblower report has renewed calls for the red shirts investigation to be reopened, with Tom Elliott agreeing it should be looked at.

Upper House MP, Fiona Patten, joined 3AW to discuss the issue after she voted against the notion to refer the new evidence to the Ombudsman for further investigation.

What happened next was heated, to say the least.

“If he has this statement, he should’ve sent it straight to IBAC not the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman doesn’t investigate police corruption, IBAC investigates it,” Patten said referring to the police whistleblower.

Tom Elliott then responded with his take on the whole situation.

“I’ve spoken to several people who have seen the whistleblower statement, it looks credible, and yet body after body and you too are doing your best not to take advantage to do something about it,” he said.

“The average person, and I’ll count myself in that camp, says this stinks to high heaven.”
