Concerns about literacy level of adult Australians
Tom Elliott is concerned by a new study of 2000 adult Australians that found half of them struggled with literacy at school and a quarter still couldn’t read a story to primary school aged children.
One-in-five admit they still struggle with paperwork and contracts that are critical to everyday life.
He spoke about the data with Dr Joanne Quick, Deakin University lecturer in Language and Literacy.
