AFL explains why five clubs were fined for breaching COVID testing rules
Five AFL clubs have been sanctioned for breaching the AFL’s COVID testing rules.
Sydney, Collingwood, Richmond, Brisbane and St Kilda were all slapped with fines, some of those suspended, for breaches of the AFL rules such as not undertaking a Rapid Antigen Test within specified time periods and uploading previous results, or results of others.
“There is an element of arrogance about this,” Neil Mitchell said.
Andrew Dillon, AFL General Counsel and Executive General Manager of Football, said it was disappointing.
But he said most of the breaches came from laziness and weren’t devious attempts to avoid COVID detections.
“We were disappointed, that’s why the sanctions were put in place,” he said.
