Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin says the Demons are giving out-of-contract young gun Luke Jackson “as much time as he needs” to make a call on his future.

But he admits negotiations have “clearly” gone on longer than they club would like.

Jackson remains unsigned beyond this year and has been strongly linked with a move to Fremantle at the end of the season.

“Clearly, it’s gone on a lot longer than we would have liked, but we’ve had some great discussions with him,” Goodwin told 3AW Football.
