One of Australia’s leading fraud investigators says scams are at an all-time high, with “well-resourced and completely ruthless” criminals preying on vulnerable people.

Chris Sheehan is NAB’s executive for group investigations and fraud and spent 27 years working for the Australian Federal Police.

He told Neil Mitchell the number of scams was “unprecedented” at the moment.

He implored people to implement a “stop, challenge and protect” system when considering whether something may be a scam.
