Victoria’s top cop says he remains “disappointed” with a court’s decision to find Jason Roberts not guilty of the 1998 murders of police officers Gary Silk and Rodney Miller.

Shane Patton opened up about his own relationships with the murdered police on 3AW.

He worked with Gary Silk at St Kilda.

“We were very close friends,” Victoria’s Chief Commissioner said.

“And Rod, I knew through doing a couple of jobs with him.

“He was up at Prahran when I was down the St Kilda-Prahran area.”

He said the ordeal had a “profound impact” on Victoria Police.

“There are many things I’d like to say, but I’ll just leave it at disappointed,” he said.
