Cam Smith’s father says he knew his son was a red hot shot at winning The Open when he birdied five holes in a row.

Smith became the first Australian golfer to win the Open Championship in 29 years with his clutch performance.

His dad, Des, was asked by Neil Mitchell for the “moment” he thought his son could win.

“When he made the five birdies in a row, I thought we are a very good chance,” he said.

Des, who plays off two, also revealed how old Cam was when he first beat him on the course!
