Farmers call for transmission lines to be placed underground
A group of farmers are calling on the state government to place transmission lines from proposed off-shore windfarms underground.
The Moorabool Power Fight say as it stands, a 190 kilometre transmission line will run from Sydenham through to Ararat.
“What we’re fighting for … is the transmission of this power, whether it’s solar or wind, that’s coming into Melbourne, doesn’t come in the form of 85 metre towers ripping scars through our landscape,” President of the Moorabool Power Fight, Emma Muir, told Tom Elliot on 3AW Drive.
“We’re saying if you’re going to have green power, lets have green transmission”
