Woman tied up, police officer struck with hatchet, at Ferntree Gully
Four men are in custody following an attempted armed robbery at Ferntree Gully that saw a woman tied up and left a police officer injured.
3AW Drive received a Word On The Street call alerting them to the incident at a tobacco store on Station St just before 3pm Thursday.
The woman escaped unharmed, however a police officer was struck in the head with a hatchet as the offenders tried to flee the scene.
He suffered non life-threatening injuries.
A Bangholme man, 24, was arrested at the scene, with a 40-year-old Dandenong man and two others caught a short time later.
