Caravan stolen from gravely ill man being treated for asbestosis
A gravely ill elderly man living in a caravan has had it stolen while he was in hospital being treated for asbestosis.
John rang 3AW Drive from his hospital bed to ask for assistance.
The 79-year-old, who has also had a leg amputated, said ‘everything’ he owned was in the white 1979 Viscount van, registered E28-495.
It was stolen from a truck stop on Geelong Road, near the Little Boundary Road intersection, at Laverton North some time on Saturday.
‘It was my home,’ John told Tom Elliott.
‘Everything that means so much to me was in the van.’
Police have confirmed they are looking into the report.
