The federal government has an extra $1.5 billion for Victoria on top of the $1.5b released overnight.

But there’s a catch, which could shape the next election.

Malcolm Turnbull has agreed the $1.5b previously slated for East-West Link can be used for other infrastructure projects.

But, in a move that could allow the Opposition to promise the EWL at the next state election, Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison today told Neil Mitchell another $1.5b was up for grabs if the East-West Link is proposed.

‘We’re committed to East-West Link,’ Mr Morrison said.
