Eddie McGuire says there isn’t a better time than now to reinvigorate Melbourne’s CBD.

Back for his regular ‘Ideas Factory’ segment on 3AW, a week after his explosive on air clash with Neil Mitchell, the TV veteran said the city has been presented with an unusual opportunity.

With workers and international visitors still largely staying away from the CBD, and works being undertaken on the Melbourne Metro Rail project, McGuire said it’s the “ideal situation” to do as much work as possible to make visiting the CBD easy and attracting.

He said Swanston Street was a “disaster” in urgent need of repair.

“We’ve got two years to get this right,” McGuire told Tom Elliott.
