The only question that interests Neil Mitchell in Twitter legal stoush
Neil Mitchell says Victorians deserve to know whether they’re paying for a prolific pro-Dan Andrews Twitter account.
The PRGuy17 account rose to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the user relentless in their support for Daniel Andrews and lockdown.
The Federal Court has ordered Twitter to release information that could reveal the identity of the person behind the anonymous account, with right-wing commentator Avi Yemini suing the user for defamation.
Neil Mitchell said the courts would handle that side of things, but he had no issue with PRGuy17 posting pro-Labor content.
“They’re entitled to do that,” the 3AW Mornings said.
“I have no problem if they want to run a PR front for Daniel Andrews.
“The question is whether we pay for it.
“That’s the only question that interests me.
“Is this account setup and run by people in the Premier’s office, on our time, on our budget.”
