Victorian private school to offer online-only education
A leading private school is set to offer an online learning option for students in years five to 12.
It will be Victoria’s first online private school.
Haileybury Pangea hasn’t yet been approved by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority, but work is underway.
Neil Mitchell has been told students from other private schools will be able to apply for a subject and complete it online.
Submissions of interest for students and teachers are currently open.
Single VCE subject offerings are set to commence in 2023.
Haileybury has declined to comment.

Director of strategy and senior research fellow at MultiLit, Jennifer Buckingham, says learning from home suits some students better than on-site education.
“We already have a lot of students who don’t go to school. They learn via distance education, which once upon the time was over the radio and is now in various types of online forums,” she told Neil Mitchell.
“There were students who thrived in their online learning experience from home during the pandemic. Certainly not all of them, but some really got a lot out of it for various different reasons.
“We’ve got a lot of families who have chosen after the pandemic to continue to home school.”
