Three days on from clocking up 100 kilometres on a treadmill, Jimmy Bartel is feeling a bit worse for wear.

The former Geelong legend and 3AW presenter took to a treadmill in the 3AW office at 12.30am on Friday.

It took him 19 hours to complete his challenge.

In the process, he raised more than $28,000 for Very Special Kids.

He said his feet feel “bruised” today and his hips are “stiff and sore”.

“I thought it would be a lot worse,” Jimmy told Neil Mitchell.

“Probably the thing that didn’t bounce the best is a pretty crook stomach from taking all those gels and hydrolytes and proteins and things like that!”

Head physiotherapist at The Sports Clinic of Melbourne, Ryan Edwards, says metabolic fatigue is the most serious part of a challenge like the one Jimmy undertook.

“Burning through all of your carbohydrates, all of your glycogen stores. Then you’re relying on fat stores,” he told Neil Mitchell.

“Certainly your muscles and your joints are really going to feel it.”
