Brighton man claims ‘unbelievably violent’ suburb would ‘put Rio to shame’
A Brighton man says violence in his suburb has become so bad it’d “put Rio to shame”.
It comes after influencer Bec Judd last week said she feels unsafe in the Bayside area.
Steve Wolf moved to Brighton in early 2019 and since then he’s seen crime in the area become “astronomically worse”.
This year he says his front gate has been smashed, a dozen people with knives have slashed a Liberal Party sign on his front fence, and he’s been the victim of an attempted carjacking while driving his Ferrari.
“I’m frightened to have my daughter over to stay with me — she’s only 11,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“It has become unbelievably violent. I quite often go to Brazil and the violence here is astronomical, it would put Rio to shame.”
There is no police station in Brighton, and Mr Wolf says without a local station there’s “no way they (police) can respond to incidences quickly”.
