Tom Elliott considers new technology that could change democracy in Australia
Tom Elliott has considered a piece of technology that could allow for much more direct participation in the democratic process.
Tom spoke to Mark Davis from ComputerShare, which manages databases for public companies.
The technology allows shareholders of a company to vote remotely on governance issues.
Mr Davis said it is ‘very conceivable’ that the technology could be extended to democratic votes.
Tom believes it could change the way democracy works in Australia, giving people a direct say on major issues.
