Commuter pain as more than 1500 bus drivers strike
Bus users are being urged to seek alternate transport today.
Dyson and Ventura bus services will not run today due to strike action.
More than 1500 bus drivers have walked off the job for 24 hours as they push for better pay and conditions from both companies.
The strike will affect Melbourne’s eastern, southern and north-eastern suburbs, including some school buses.
Drivers have formed a picket line in Bundoora at the Dyson depot.
“No buses are getting through, they haven’t been able to get through since early this morning,” Today reporter Christine Ahern said.
Specialist school buses operated by the two companies are still running.
The Transport Workers’ Union has apologised to those affected by the strike, but says it was a last resort.
