Anthony Albanese is again facing accusations he’s not across his political brief, with the Labor leader caught in an awkward exchange with journalists on Thursday.

While discussing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) this week, Mr Albanese referenced Labor’s six-point plan to help improve the system.

He was asked by reporters on Thursday to detail the six points.

He could not.

A staffer was then seen handing Mr Albanese a folder, before he attempted to detail the points.

He was quickly called out by those in attendance for reading from notes.

“It was abundantly clear he didn’t know the specifics of this policy,” 9 News reporter Jonathan Kearsley, who asked the question about the six-point plan at the press conference, told Neil Mitchell.

Kearsley said it was likely Mr Albanese’s advisers would try and paint the situation as a “gotcha” moment, but it was not.

“I think it’s damaging in the sense that it adds to this perception he is not across his brief,” he said.

Neil Mitchell said Mr Albanese did not look himself.

“He looks out of his depth. I don’t think he is, but he looks out of his depth,” he said.
