Most primary school students are being given just 10 minutes or less to eat their lunch, sparking concerns kids aren’t getting enough nutrition each day.

Dr Melissa Burton, School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University, said it wasn’t enough time.

“It seems most schools are giving them an allotted time … a specific time before they go off and play,” she said.

Unsurprisingly, it’s seeing kids often return home with half-full lunchboxes and only the “treats” being eaten.
