Qantas confirms two new ultra-long routes
Qantas has confirm two new ultra-long routes.
Non-stop flights from Sydney to London and New York will take off in late 2025, after almost five years of planning.
Both routes will take more than 20 hours.
Director of the Griffith Institute of Tourism, Dr Sarah Gardiner, says it’s “a gamechanger”.
For Victorians, the new routes will still mean making a stopover in Sydney, but Dr Gardiner says they’re still an attractive option.
“I think the appeal of not having that stopover in the middle, and uncomplicating the international leg of the experience is really going to be quite attractive to a lot of people,” she told 3AW Breakfast.
“I think they’ve decided to come out of Sydney … because that’s the main international airport in terms of where most international travellers fly into.”
