Tom Elliott says residents in the bayside electorate of Isaacs are being “ripped off” this election.

The two major party candidates, Mark Dreyfus (Labor) and Robbie Beaton (Liberal), don’t live there.

In fact, they both live several kilometres away, with Mr Dreyfus residing in Malvern and Mr Beaton living in Camberwell.

Isaacs takes in suburbs like Mordialloc, Bonbeach, Aspendale and Carrum.

“They both want the right to represent you in the federal parliament, if you live in Isaacs, but they, themselves, don’t live there,” Tom Elliott said on Friday.

“I could not be more against this.

“The whole point of representative democracy is that you represent the people, because you are one of them.”
