Collingwood president Jeff Browne says the club won’t stretch itself financially to keep out-of-contract players such as Jordan De Goey.

Browne told 3AW the midfielder/forward had “done everything asked of him” since returning from a club-imposed ban over the summer.

“There are a number of players on our list to be re-signed and Jordan is one of them,” Browne told 3AW.

It’s unclear how much De Goey would attract on the open market but Browne said the Pies were “determined” to keep their salary cap in check after a “crisis” in previous years saw the club forced to “eject” players like Adam Treloar.

“That won’t happen again under my watch,” he said.
